This year has been kind to us TV series lovers as Jon Snow finally took on the Bolton bastard while Rami Malek managed to get a grasp on reality post the apocalyptic take down of the world economy. The Emmy’s this year also took note of the fabulous performances and awarded the best among the lot.
Game of Thrones won the Outstanding Drama Series for the second year in a row. The fantasy drama based on George R.R. Martin’s novels also won the award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for showcasing one of the most beautiful and ruthless battle sequences in ‘Battle of Bastards’. Miguel Sapochnik, the director of the ninth episode of season six took home the award. The same episode also fetched the writers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series. These three, along with nine more in other minor categories take the award tally of Game of Thrones to 38, edging out sitcom Fraiser to become the most awarded fictional television series ever.
